Gettysburg National Military Park Winter 2018 Programs

Gettysburg National Military Park announced its winter programs for 2018. See here.

The winter lecture series lineup looks terrific, with Matt Atkinson leading off.

I’m looking forward to these lectures. If you’re near Gettysburg on any of these dates, stop by. If you can’t make it, check out the battlefield Facebook page. Each of the lectures, which begin at 1:30 PM EST, will be live-streamed there.

The park staff are also continuing their highly successful Battlefield Book series. This year the books are Elizabeth Brown Pryor’s Reading the Man: A Portrait of Robert E. Lee Through His Private Letters and Gabor Boritt’s The Gettysburg Gospel: The Lincoln Speech That Nobody Knows. The discussions at these sessions have been terrific in the past, so I expect they’ll be a great deal of fun again. Here’s the schedule, with the discussions taking place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST:

Also from 11 to 12 is a reading program for children combined with facilitated indoor activities.

The NPS always does a great job with these programs. I can highly recommend them. If you can get to any or all of them, you won’t be disappointed.
